Skiing in Norway: Skiing and sailing in the heart of the fjords in the Bodø Alps
Let yourself be seduced by the magic of this still secret and protected region of Norway, located north of the Arctic Circle, near the Lofoten archipelago. Our in-depth knowledge of skiing and sailing, as well as that of our skippers, means we can take you anywhere perfectly safely. Whether on board the yacht or from the peaks, each day you will experience the sense of escape and freedom unique the sea and touring skiing. You will be surrounded by the magnificent scenery of steep mountains plunging into the crystal clear waters of Norwegian fjords.
This touring ski trip in the Bodø Alps takes place on one or two large expedition sailing yachts. These comfortable and well-equipped vessels can
accommodate 12 passengers and can sail together or separately, depending on your needs and wishes. They sail at their own pace of around 7 knots (8 mph). Their size allows for a close immersion in nature and gives you access to all the peaks from the coastline itself.
There are limitless numbers of touring skiing routes in the Bodø Alps. Each day, we define the programme together, depending on the navigation and snow conditions. We also adapt to your wishes and the group’s skiing level. Most of the touring skiing routes enable crossings rather than loops, with an average climb of 600 to 1000 m. This is what makes this ski/sail trip in Norway so special.
Our suggested itineraries for this skiing and sailing holiday in the Bodø Alps:
(Depending on navigation and snow conditions)
Touring skiing can start in the hamlet of Straumsnes, pass through remarkable birch forests and up the valley to the top of Sjunktinden (1071 m), where the panoramic view over the Lofoten archipelago is exceptional, before returning to the yacht in the late afternoon via Einarvikelva beach.
We can also combine the two iconic peaks of the Sørfolda: Bjørnsvik (952 m) and Kråktinden (871 m).
After an initial beautiful climb of Bjørnsvik and then a descent to the lake, we climb Kråktinden before returning to the boat waiting for us in Sagfjorden bay.
Another must-do ski tour in the Bodø Alps is to climb the slopes leading to Trollvatnet (Troll Lake), surrounded by beautiful peaks, including Durmalstinden (876 m).
On this touring skiing trip, you can try the highest point of the Bodø Alps: the Helldalisen (1351 m). From the Sandbaken pontoon, we walk in ski skins under the Båsunen to the glacier. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Lofoten Islands and the region's peaks, majestically set on the water.
To end this wonderful week of skiing and sailing in Norway, we can start from the village of Reinvika in the Mørvikfjorden, then follow the Reinvikelva river, cross the
birch forest and climb to the top of Geittinden (1145 m) by its southern slope before skiing down to the coastline.
